Russia’s communications watchdog said on Wednesday it was taking steps to punish the Wikimedia Foundation, which hosts the online encyclopedia Wikipedia, for violating Russian law around the conflict in Ukraine.

Russian state communications regulator Roskomnadzor said links to Wikipedia about Russia's war in Ukraine would have a disclaimer telling users the Wikimedia Foundation violated Russian law.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian shelling badly damaged the crucial Antonivskyi bridge in the Russia-controlled Kherson region of southern Ukraine, Moscow-installed regional authorities said on Wednesday. The bridge was one of only two crossing points for Russian forces to the territory they have occupied on the western bank of the vast Dnipro river in southern Ukraine and had been a key target for Ukrainian forces in recent days, with Kyiv using high-precision US-supplied rockets to try to destroy it.
