At a time when the economy is collapsing because of declining foreign exchange reserves, due to which imports are being tightened, the government has started the process of purchasing arms and crowd control equipment worth Rs 840 million for the Nepal Police.
Nepal Police had proposed to purchase arms and ammunition worth Rs 1.35 billion saying that they had not purchased arms since seven years. But the government has transferred Rs 840 million to the police for the purchase of weapons towards the end of this fiscal year.
