Kathmandu, June13,
There is a baby in the lap, the body is swollen, there is an injury on the forehead. The same injury and swollen body also bears evidence that she is being abused. She can't even sit down and stand up properly. But the ignorant baby keeps scratching his mother again and again because he likes to drink milk from time to time.
Eyes that have been carved inside and the face that has turned dry shows that she is in serious distress. More than that, her determination shows that she is in rebellion against the state judiciary.
How did the hunger strike start?
Niharika lost the case in the district court but did not lose her morale. She decided to go to the high court. After losing the case from the district court, she has filed a case in the high court. But even in the high court, Niharika has been ignored. Her case has not been heard in the Janakpur High Court yet.
She then came to the Kathmandu because she fear to stay in her home district. She has raised her son while fighting for justice. As her case is not being taken forward, she is now on a hunger strike with the decision to fight from the streets. "I have knocked on everyone door but no one gave me justice. The culprit has been walking openly for a long time. My child has not even had a DNA test. The district court case states that we had consensual sex. I will not leave the street until justice is done, says Niharika.''
